Our Radiation Protection Supervisor Courses

RPS - General

A course for RPSs and others with responsibility for the supervision of radiation safety in industry, research and teaching. Topics covered include the nature of radiation, terminology, health effects, requirements of legislation (including EPR10 and RSA93) and measurement. An optional written assessment is offered at the end of the course.

RPS - Gauging and Analytical

As above, but restricted to RPSs whose area of responsibility is limited to the use of gauging systems and laboratory analytical equipment.

RPS - Industrial Radiography

This course is designed for those involved in supervision of radiation safety while using industrial X-ray or gamma radiography for non-destructive testing.

RPS - X-Rays

A course aimed at RPSs supervising x-radiation hazards in any workplace, including industrial and medical sectors.

RPS - Refresher

A course for those who have previously received RPS training but feel they need to refresh or update their knowledge and skills.

RPS - Nuclear Density Gauges

Specifically aimed at the RPS with responsibility for use and transport of nuclear density gauges/moisture probes in, for example, road construction or agriculture.

RPS - Veterinary

Focussing on the role of the RPS in relation to diagnostic veterinary radiography. Suitable for veterinary surgeons, practice managers or senior nurses.

RPS - Dental Practice

A course covering both worker and patient protection in relation to diagnotic radiography in dental practice. Appropriate for practice RPSs, those attending may claim 6 points of verifible CPD.

RPS - Dental Trade

Focussing on the radiation safety aspects of installing, servicing and commissioning dental x-ray equipment and the role of the RPS during this work. Engineers using DXPS test packs are required to attend this course, and the associated half-day seminar.

Our Radiation Awareness Courses

RA - X-ray, Sealed Sources or Unsealed Sources

These courses offer awareness training appropriate for most common applications. Select the course most appropriate for your needs.

RA - Industrial Radiography

Training aimed at industrial radiographers undertaking gamma or X-radiography, either in enclosures or on site (open-shop). The course reflects the basic level PCN and ASNT requirements for radiation safety.

RA - Nuclear Density Gauges

Aimed at operators of nuclear density gauges/moisture probes. The course includes coverage of radiation safety during transport.

Further Courses

Radiation Safety for Managers

For those who have some responsibility for radiation safety but little background knowledge of the subject. Emphasis is on regulatory requirements and the management of radiation safety in the workplace. This course is ideally suited to employers, managers and health and safety personnel.

Radiation Safety for Healthcare Managers

As above, focussing on issues relevant to hospitals and private clinics. This course covers both ionising and non-ionising radiations.

Auditing Contract Radiographers

A course for those charged with the coordination and auditing of contracted site radiography. Emphasis is on safe working practice and procedural requirements.

Radiation Safety, Security X-ray

Appropriate for both RPSs and operators, this course addresses the radiation safety issues associated with X-ray inspection systems used as part of security measures.
