By road
HPA is one of several occupants of the Harwell science complex which is to the west of the A34 dual carriageway, 14 miles south of Oxford and 14 miles north of Newbury. Visitors travelling north should leave the A34 at the A4185 intersection and follow signs to the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in the first instance; those travelling south should leave the A34 at the A4130 intersection, following the signs for Wantage and at the Rowstock mini-roundabout take the second exit, signposted to Chilton.
The HPA building is reached along Fermi Avenue, which is on the south side of the Harwell International Business Centre (formerly Harwell Laboratory), beyond the Atlas Centre and Rutherford Appleton Laboratory and before the Medical Research Council (MRC) units.
By rail
The HPA at Chilton is about 7 miles from Didcot Parkway station, which has frequent connections with London (Paddington), Birmingham, the west of England and South Wales. Taxi services are available from the station.
By bus
The bus services to the Harwell site are run by Stagecoach.
By air
The HPA at Chilton is one hour from London (Heathrow) Airport; there is a RailAir link service to Didcot Parkway station, via Reading.
