This is a radiation safety course for those who work with, or whose work is affected by x-ray equipment. The course would be of interest to equipment users, managers and those working in the vicinity of x-ray generators such as analytical equipment, x-ray gauges or adventitious sources such as ion implanters. No previous training in radiation safety is assumed.

What is the course about?
This course provides an awareness of the basic principles of radiation protection in relation to equipment that generates x-rays. The course focuses on the practical steps that can be taken to minimise exposure, such as the use of radiation monitors, the effective use of safety and warning devices and the importance of following procedures.

Understand the hazards of x-radiation and why radiation doses must be kept "as low as reasonably practicable" (ALARP)

Course overview
The programme runs over a full day and comprises of interactive talks and practical work. Speakers are selected from our pool of specialists and advisers, all of whom are familiar with many industrial, research and medical uses of x-rays. Buffet lunch and refreshments are provided, and parking on site is free.
