- Understand how to apply the basic principles of radiation protection to restrict exposure in practice;
- Become familiar with the relevant requirements of the Ionising Radiation Regulations 1999 and associated statutory guidance;

Course overview
The course runs for a single day and comprises of interactive talks and group exercises. The course covers all the necessary legal and practical requirements, and the material is put into context using case studies. Speakers are selected from our pool of experienced dental specialists and advisers and they will be on hand throughout the day to talk about any specific issues.
Attendance at the full day provides the requisite training for those appointed as Radiation Protection Supervisor. An additional half-day is compulsory for engineers who are customers of the HPA Dental RPA service. In this additional session, further training in the use of HPA test packs and test objects is provided, and there is an opportunity to discuss the management of radiation protection and the HPA Dental RPA service.
